MineSweep Pixel

A fresh take on the classic Minesweeper, wrapped in pixel art and a soft pastel palette inspired by Catppuccin.

Built from the ground up with LOVE 2D, MineSweep Pixel keeps everything you love about the original while adding score tracking, combo mechanics, lives, power-ups, and a local leaderboard.

Features

Three Difficulty Levels

• Easy (9x9, 10 mines, 3 lives) - Perfect for beginners
• Medium (16x12, 40 mines, 2 lives) - The classic challenge
• Hard (30x16, 99 mines, 1 life) - No room for mistakes

Score & Combo System

• Earn points for every cell you uncover
• Chain clicks within 2 seconds to build your combo multiplier (up to 5x!)
• Large flood-fills award bonus points
• Final score multiplied by difficulty and speed bonuses

Lives & Power-Ups

• Lives vary by difficulty - get hit by a mine and keep playing (except on Hard!)
• Shield: absorbs one mine hit without costing a life (earned every 25 cells)
• Reveal: automatically uncovers a safe cell for you (earned every 40 cells)

Local Leaderboard

• Top 10 scores per difficulty
• Separate rankings for Wins and Losses
• Arcade-style 3-character name entry
• Persistent between sessions

Quality of Life

• Chord click (middle mouse) for fast uncovering around numbered cells
• Mine counter showing remaining mines
• Pause menu with Resume, Restart, and Menu options
• First click is always safe

Controls

• Left Click - Uncover a cell
• Right Click - Cycle: Flag > Question > Clear
• Middle Click - Chord (auto-uncover neighbors if flags match)
